I love to learn, and think it’s important to continually grow, both personally and professionally. I read daily and invest both time and money into improving different areas of my business. One of my words for 2015 is Give. I’ve learned so much and experienced big successes along with big failures in the 7+ years of owning a bath and body company. I want to share that knowledge with you and help you avoid some of the colossal mistakes I’ve made. One of the ways I plan on doing that this year is through blogging.
There are many benefits to blogging, which I’ll cover in more detail in a future post. I preach to my clients about regularly blogging. We have a number of clients who my team and I ghostwrite for each week so their blogs and newsletters are consistently updated, providing valuable information for their current and potential customers. But I have sadly neglected my own blog here at Bath and Body Academy. No longer!
I’m a proud member of the Indie Business Network, which if we’ve ever had a consulting call or coaching sessions, you know I rave about Donna Maria and the IBN group. I’ve been a member since 2007 and highly recommend it for all beauty entrepreneurs and handcrafted business owners. I recently applied for and was accepted into a small private group within IBN that will focus on consistently blogging (at least once per week), supporting and challenging each other to improve our blog content and increase engagement (comments, shares, etc) on our blog posts. I like a challenge and the fact that we have to meet specific requirements to stay in the challenge group motivates me even more to stick with it and improve this area of my business.
I’m looking forward to not only getting to know my fellow IBN members and learning about their businesses, but also getting into the habit of regularly writing blog posts that give back to and encourage you, my readers. Knowing I’m serving and helping others helps to fulfill my purpose (another one of my 2015 words!) My goal and plan is to continue the habit of consistency in blogging, even after this blog challenge group is over.
So you’ll see more posts here on the blog starting this week. Here are some of the posts you’ll see in the coming months:
*Continuation of our Beauty Business from A-Z series
*An ‘Ask Alyssa’ segment, where I respond, probably via video to questions I’ve received from clients and newsletter subscribers
*Monthly themes where we’ll talk about a specific topic from a bunch of angles throughout a month
*Random hits of inspiration and encouragement
*Guest posts by movers and shakers in our industry so you can learn strategies for success directly from them!
What else would you like to see here on the Bath and Body Academy blog? Please comment below and I’ll do my best to incorporate your requests. Thanks!
